The vehicle will definitely be won by one of the decorating contractor members of the Federation attending the event, being held at the Dunblane Hydro near Stirling on April 4th and 5th. All newcomers who register for membership at the event will also be eligible to enter the Draw. The lucky van winner will also receive two tickets for the Gala Dinner on April 5th, where they will be presented with a set of keys in front of hundreds of assembled guests. Crown Trade’s prize also includes overnight hotel accommodation for two people on April 5th.
This announcement follows the success of the recruitment drive for members in the run-up to last year’s Conference and Gala Dinner and the substantial increase in members attending. Much of this success was attributed to Crown Trade’s generous donation of a Nissan Primastar 2.0 as the star attraction in the prize draw.
George Nicolson Decorators of Edinburgh struck lucky in 2007 and the company was able to extend its fleet of vans with the new van. Crown Trade arranged to have all the company’s signwriting done and when the vehicle was delivered in its new livery it was well stocked with a generous array of Crown Trade coatings and Decorators Choice sundries.
Ewan Nicolson, Finance and Admin Director said the company had been ‘absolutely amazed and thrilled’ to win the star prize in last year’s draw. He said: “Our Contracts Manager Andrew Scotland has been driving the Crown Trade van ever since it was delivered and has been very happy with it. It’s not given us a minute’s trouble and it’s been a fantastic addition to our fleet”.
He also said: ”We will be attending the conference and gala dinner in force this April and we’re all really looking forward to it. But just in case anyone’s wondering….we won’t be entering the draw for the van! It just wouldn’t be fair if we struck lucky twice in a row, but we’ll be waiting with baited breath like everyone else to see who wins Crown Trade’s star prize this year.”
John Shrimpton of Crown Paints said: “Our relationship with the SDF goes back many years and we fully support its mission to unite and represent the Scottish decorating industry. By donating a van for the prize draw once again we are showing our willingness to do everything we can to encourage decorators all across Scotland to become members of their national trade association.”
